Before you call for backup, try these "Magic Fixes." About 70% of tech glitches can be solved with these three simple steps.
It sounds too simple to work, but rebooting clears out the "digital cobwebs" that slow down your device. Turn off your phone, tablet, or Smart TV, count to 30 seconds (slowly!), and turn it back on.
You'd be surprised how often a vacuum cleaner accidentally nudges a plug! Check that your Wi-Fi router, printer, and TV are securely plugged into the wall and that all power strips are turned on.
If your smart speaker or streaming TV isn't working, make sure your internet hasn't dropped. Grab your phone—if you can load a webpage, your internet is fine, and we just need to reconnect your device!
Grab your smartphone or tablet. If you can open a webpage or watch a video on your phone, your home internet is working! That means the glitch is just with your Smart TV, printer, or computer. If nothing loads on your phone, it’s time to call your internet provider (like Bell or Rogers).
This is a very common glitch! First, turn the printer off and turn it back on. If that doesn't work, check your computer to see if it accidentally switched to a "Guest" Wi-Fi network. If it still won't print, give us a call! We can get your computer and printer talking to each other again.
Unplug your smart speaker from the wall outlet, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in. It will take a minute or two to reboot. If it still doesn't light up or respond to your voice, it may have lost its connection to your home router, and we can come by to reconnect it for you!
If you’ve tried the steps above and things still aren't working, that’s where we come in. Don't spend your afternoon fighting with technology. Write down exactly what happened, and give us a call—we’ll figure it out together.
